Levels of care

Finding the Right Level of Care

Medically supervised detox / withdrawal management

Short-term medical support to manage withdrawal safely. It is a starting point, not complete treatment.

Residential treatment

Live-in care with structured, round-the-clock support.

Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient

Several hours of treatment per day or week while living at home.

Standard outpatient treatment

Regular scheduled visits for counseling and medical care.

Medication for opioid use disorder

Evidence-based medications such as buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone with clinical follow-up.

Peer support and recovery services

Connection with people who have lived experience, plus ongoing community support.

Detox alone is not a complete treatment for opioid use disorder. Continuing treatment — including medication when appropriate — can reduce the risk of returning to use and of overdose.
